DC Area Vegan-Friendly Restaurants

Busboys & Poets (multiple locations):

They serve meat but have quite a few clearly marked vegan items. The tempeh panini, veggie burger, and falafel are all great. Their tofu dinner entree is fantastic. Save room for dessert…brownie sundae or cheesecake (both vegan!) YUM!!

Le Pain Quotidien (multiple locations):

This is a great spot for lunch or brunch. They serve meat but have many clearly marked vegan options. The tartines are yummy and the soups & chili are great. They have a lot of seasonal specials which are worth trying. If you go for dinner the quinoa cake is super.

Smoke & Barrel (Adams Morgan):

They have a brunch buffet with some good clearly marked vegan items

Science Club (Dupont area)

This is a vegetarian restaurant with a casual/funky bar/lounge feel. Fun for a weekend night out! Veggie burger is great and so is brownie sundae!

Galaxy Hut (Clarendon)

This is a mostly vegetarian dive bar. Great if you’re in the mood for some greasy grub & a beer!

The Counter (Reston)

Build your own veggie burger! Toppings galore!

Vegan only Asian-style places:
Loving Hut (Falls Church): has great dessert
Sunflower (Falls Church & Vienna)

Pizza places with vegan cheese options:
Pete’s Apizza (multiple locations including Clarendon & Upper Northwest)
Pizzeria Paradiso (multiple locations including Georgetown & Dupont)
Lost Dog Cafe (Falls Church)
Ella’s Pizza (Chinatown/ metro center)
District of Pi (Metro center) (call ahead at least 6 hours if you want vegan deep dish! YUM!)

“Ethnic” restaurants tend to have good veggie options. Some of my favorites:
Lebanese Taverna (multiple locations)
Amsterdam Falafel (Adams Morgan)
Teakwood (Thai food in Logan Circle)
The Regent Thai (sister restaurant of Teakwood in Dupont)
Four Sisters (Vietnamese in Merrifield)

Make your own salad places are great: Sweetgreen & Chop’t are the best!

Whole Foods Market and MOMs Organic Market both have eat-in areas and GREAT vegan options!
